Democracy and transparency enabling media participation and media freedom in the electoral process
Under this title, the efforts of the election monitoring networks “Shams, Ein and Tammuz” are intertwined, in partnership with the European Union and the Norwegian People’s Aid Organization, in a new project that was launched in early September and announced its opening on Wednesday morning, September 25, in the capital, Baghdad. in partnership with the High Electoral Commission and in the presence of partner organizations, civil activists, academic figures, election experts, and representatives of several federations and unions. Among them are the regional director of the Norwegian People's Aid Organization in Iraq, Mr. Richard Odong, the representative of the President of the Iraqi Republic at the conference, Mr.Karim Al-Tamimi, the head of the Independent High Electoral Commission, Judge Omar Ahmed, the European Union ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, and the head of the elections team in the United Nations UNAMI mission, Dr. Aamir A. Arain.
It is noteworthy that the project continues until August 2026 and will includes the eighteen Iraqi governorates.
