On June 30, the Ain Network for Election Monitoring and Democracy organized an awareness forum in Anbar Province, targeting religious leaders and tribal sheikhs. The event was held as part of the project "Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Participation and Freedom of the Media", funded by the European Union, in cooperation with the Norwegian People’s Aid, and in partnership with the Shams and Tammuz networks, and coordinated with the Independent High Electoral Commission / Anbar Office.
The forum focused on the vital role that religious and tribal leaders can play in promoting electoral awareness within their communities by delivering educational messages in a simplified and impactful manner that aligns with local social dynamics.
The event included extensive and constructive discussions on ways to support popular participation in the electoral process, particularly in rural areas, and addressed the key challenges facing these communities. Participants also emphasized the importance of unifying religious and societal discourse to ensure fair, inclusive, and transparent elections that represent all segments of society.
