The Ein Network for Election Monitoring and Democracy organized a specialized training in cooperation with the Women’s Empowerment Department, aimed at strengthening the capacities of the Committee for Supporting Women Politically. The training took place on September 25–26 in Al-Samawah Governorate, and addressed a number of important topics related to the upcoming elections. These included the importance of women’s participation in the electoral process and their role in reaching the ballot boxes and exercising free voting, as well as an introduction to the electoral mechanism, methods of combating election-related rumors, and the development of a joint plan with relevant stakeholders to promote electoral participation.

The workshop witnessed active discussions and contributions from participants, who emphasized the need to intensify awareness campaigns on the importance of free voting, strengthen the role of local media in supporting women’s participation, and underline the importance of engaging civil society organizations in monitoring the electoral process.

Mr. Haider Al-Wahhami, the Deputy Governor of Al-Muthanna, also participated in the workshop, stressing the importance of supporting women’s political participation in the governorate and commending the efforts of the Eye Network in implementing and supporting the electoral process.

This activity comes within the framework of the project “Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media”, funded by the European Union and in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid. The training is part of a series of workshops carried out by the Election Monitoring Alliance across various governorates, aimed at enhancing women’s participation in elections.
