At the invitation of the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), the Eye Network for Election Monitoring and Democracy participated in a specialized training on monitoring, documenting, and reporting human rights violations in the context of electoral processes.

The training was held on August 6 and 7 and covered a range of key topics aimed at enhancing the capacity of stakeholders involved in election observation. These included how to classify and document violations according to international standards, mechanisms for verifying the accuracy of news and information, and effective methodologies for field-based monitoring of electoral violations.

The training also featured a specialized session on the role of artificial intelligence in electoral processes, addressing its dual impact—both in facilitating the detection of violations and in posing challenges through increased risks of misinformation and digital rights abuses.

The Eye Network’s participation in this training reflects its ongoing commitment to promoting integrity and transparency in electoral processes, and to strengthening the capabilities of its teams in human rights monitoring, in line with international standards and in support of public trust in the democratic process.
