Ein Network for Election Monitoring and Democracy organized a dialogue forum for media professionals in Al-Muthanna Governorate, as part of the activities of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Press”, in partnership with Tammuz and Shams networks, supported by the European Union, and in cooperation with the Norwegian People’s Aid.

The forum was held to emphasize the important role of religious leaders in electoral awareness, particularly in highlighting that voting is a constitutional right guaranteed to all citizens. It also aimed to explain the electoral law and raise awareness on this topic.

The forum included discussions on the role of media in promoting electoral participation and delivering awareness messages accurately and impartially. Media professionals exchanged ideas on proper media coverage mechanisms for the electoral process in line with democratic and transparency standards.

Participants stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between the media and relevant institutions to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and to encourage citizens to participate actively and positively in the upcoming elections
