The Ein  Network for Election and Democracy Monitoring, in cooperation with the Women’s Empowerment Department in Elections and the Committee Supporting Women’s Political Participation, organized a specialized training on empowering women’s participation in elections.

The training focused on the importance of women’s participation in elections, in addition to activating the role of the committee dedicated to women’s political empowerment, especially since Basra Governorate is considered one of the most important provinces, characterized by its rich cultural diversity.

The training lasted for two days (September 24–25) and was held within the framework of the project “Democracy and Transparency – Empowering Civic Participation and Freedom of the Media”, funded by the European Union and in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid Organization.

A group of activists, stakeholders, and those interested in electoral affairs took part in the training. The sessions covered several topics, such as: mechanisms of electoral systems, ways to enhance women’s participation in decision-making, and the importance of integrating gender issues into the electoral process.

This activity comes as part of the efforts of the Election Monitoring Alliance aimed at strengthening women’s roles and implementing the national strategy for advancing women politically, thereby contributing to building a more just and equal society and ensuring active women’s participation in public life.
