Babil Electoral Office Participates in Coordination Meeting of the Electoral Awareness Forum in Cooperation with Local Monitoring Networks

The Babil, represented by the Media and Public Communication Division and the Political Parties and Candidates Affairs Division, participated in the coordination meeting of the Electoral Awareness Forum. The meeting was held in cooperation with the Union of Local Monitoring Networks—Shams, Tammuz, and EIN—and attended by representatives from several unions, syndicates, and civil society organizations in the governorate.


The meeting took place on Tuesday, 26 May 2025, at the Human Rights Commission Hall, as part of ongoing preparations for the 2025 Iraqi Council of Representatives elections. It aimed to enhance electoral awareness and strengthen strategic coordination between the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and the monitoring networks.


Participants discussed the agenda for implementing electoral awareness forums and strategies for engaging diverse community groups, including political parties, academics, persons with disabilities, tribal leaders, and women, in order to promote broader civic participation in the electoral process.


The delegation from the Independent High Electoral Commission – Babil Office, including Mr. Qaf Mahdi Mousa, Mr. Wissam Abbas Al-Sultani, and Mr. Amir Jihad, delivered a detailed presentation on the institution’s preparations for the upcoming elections. They also explained the procedures for party registration and the electronic submission of candidate lists, in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations.


At the conclusion of the meeting, participants agreed on the importance of role coordination among all stakeholders and the need to intensify efforts to ensure the success of the upcoming electoral awareness campaign, in service of the public interest and to promote transparency and integrity in the democratic process.
