Coordination Meeting Between Election Monitoring Networks and the Electoral Commission in Anbar to Strengthen Joint Cooperation

A coordination meeting was held today at the office of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) in Anbar province, bringing together representatives of the election monitoring networks “Tammuz,” “Shams,” and “EIN.” The meeting was attended by Mr. Nasri Ayad Al-Mohammadi, Director of the IHEC office in Anbar, and Mr. Qutaiba Mahmoud Abd, Head of the Media Division at the Commission.

The meeting was held as part of the ongoing preparations to implement the activities of the project “Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Media Freedom”, which is being carried out by civil society organizations in partnership with the Commission.

During the meeting, the project’s objectives and main pillars were presented, and the importance of joint cooperation and coordination between the Commission and the networks throughout the electoral process was emphasized.

It was agreed that the Commission would appoint representatives to participate in the subcommittee for electoral awareness in the governorate, and provide the networks with an official facilitation letter to allow them to visit voter registration update centers and collect necessary data as part of the project activities.

This collaboration comes as part of the efforts to ensure transparency and integrity in the electoral process and to enhance broad community participation in the upcoming elections.
