EIN, Tammuz, and Shams Networks Explore Cooperation with the Electoral Commission in Basra

Coordinators from the EIN, Tammuz, and Shams Networks held a coordination meeting with Mr. Haider, Director of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) office in Basra, in the presence of officials from the Political Parties, Media, and Legal Affairs Divisions.

The meeting began with presentations by the network coordinators on the upcoming electoral awareness forums and the planned activities under the "Democracy and Transparency" project. The coordinators also provided a brief overview of the networks’ past, current, and future efforts in election monitoring and promoting civic engagement.

Mr. Haider, in turn, outlined the latest updates regarding voter registration, data updates, and the proposed expansion of polling stations, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between IHEC and civil society organizations.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on mechanisms for cooperation and coordination between the three networks and the Basra IHEC office, aiming to strengthen the role of NGOs in election observation and electoral education, in line with the commission’s new regulations and guidelines.
