Baghdad, July 31, 2025
Ain Network for Election Monitoring and Democracy organized a dialogue forum for journalists in Baghdad as part of the "Democracy and Transparency: Empowering Civic Engagement and Freedom of the Media" project, in partnership with Tammuz and Shams Networks, supported by the European Union, and in cooperation with the Norwegian People's Aid organization.
The forum focused on the role of the media in supporting the electoral process, with an emphasis on promoting women's participation in elections and addressing false and misleading information circulated about them.
The forum produced several key recommendations, including conducting a public opinion survey on citizens’ willingness to participate in the elections, enhancing protection measures for candidates, launching a national campaign to correct misconceptions spread on social media about the Political Parties Law and the Electoral Commission Law, and implementing a 110-day national awareness campaign to educate citizens on the importance of electoral participation.
The forum also saw the participation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission.
