A forum for religious leaders and tribal figures was held in Salah al-Din Governorate on June 24, as part of the “Democracy and Transparency: Civic Engagement and Freedom of Expression” project, funded by the European Union and in partnership with the Norwegian People's Aid (NPA), in cooperation with the Eye Network and the Tammuz and Shams networks.
The forum focused on the importance of updating voter registration data, encouraging citizens to collect their electoral cards, and raising awareness of the electoral law and the voting mechanism under the single-district system, with a simplified explanation of the electoral process stages.
The forum also included interactive discussions with participants on legal and organizational aspects, and concluded with a significant proposal by one of the mosque preachers to unify Friday sermons to include awareness messages that promote electoral participation.
This activity is part of civil society organizations' efforts to raise awareness and enhance meaningful participation in the electoral process
