Meeting of the Subcommittee of the Electoral Awareness Forum in Dhi Qar with the Participation of the Electoral Commission and Civil Society Organizations

On Sunday, a meeting of the subcommittee of the Electoral Awareness Forum was held in Dhi Qar Governorate, organized by the three monitoring networks: EIN, Shams, and Tammuz, with the participation of representatives from the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) office in Dhi Qar, alongside various official entities and civil society organizations.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Falah Hassan Al-Mousawi, Director of the IHEC office in Dhi Qar, along with officials from the Media and Political Entities Departments at the Commission. Also present were representatives from the local government, the Bar and Teachers Syndicates, the Youth and Sports Directorate, the Women’s Empowerment Department, the Iraqi Media Network, political entities, and the Iraqi Women’s Network.
The participants discussed the next phase of electoral awareness efforts, agreeing to organize seven specialized workshops during the upcoming month of June, in collaboration with the three networks. Official responses from the Commission to the participants’ inquiries and observations were reviewed, along with clarifications from the Forum’s Secretariat regarding the project and its implementation mechanisms.
Mr. Falah Hassan Al-Mousawi emphasized the importance of activating the role of civil society organizations and media networks as key and effective partners in raising voter awareness. He stressed the need to engage various segments of society through targeted seminars and awareness programs.
This meeting comes as part of the ongoing preparations by the IHEC office in Dhi Qar, in coordination with official institutions and active organizations, in anticipation of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
